About Network One
Who is Network One Health?
Network One Health (NOH) is a practice management company founded by Dr H P Manyonga (MBChB, MRCOG, FCOG(SA), MBA). NOH oversees a network of practices including Dr H P Manyonga Women's Health Services, SWIFT Care, and Network One Maternity. We specialise in team-based, value-based maternity and women's health care.
Is Network One a medical aid?
No. Network One Maternity is not a medical aid or insurance product. It is a clinical care programme delivered by a multidisciplinary team of obstetricians, midwives, doulas, and other healthcare professionals. You pay a transparent, all-inclusive fee for your maternity care.
How long has the practice been operating?
Dr Manyonga is a UK-trained obstetrician and gynaecologist (MRCOG) and Fellow of the College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of South Africa (FCOG(SA)). The practice is HPCSA-registered (Practice Number 0977357), a member of SASOG, and a Discovery Health Global Fee Partner. Our clinical protocols are developed with reference to WHO, RCOG, SASOG, and NDoH guidelines.
The Maternity Programme
What does the maternity programme include?
The programme covers your complete pregnancy journey from booking to six weeks postnatal:
  • Initial antenatal assessment — comprehensive health review, booking scan, blood tests, and care plan
  • Regular antenatal consultations — check-ups throughout pregnancy
  • Ultrasound scans — dating, anatomy (20-22 weeks), and growth scans
  • Routine blood tests and screening
  • Antenatal classes — childbirth preparation, breastfeeding, newborn care
  • Birth at a private hospital — NVD or C-section, with midwife and obstetrician support
  • Hospital stay — 1 day (NVD) or 2-3 days (C-section)
  • Three postnatal visits — mother and baby wellness checks
  • Pap smear — cervical screening
When should I join the programme?
As early as possible — ideally as soon as you know you are pregnant. Early booking (before 13 weeks) allows us to complete important first-trimester screening and establish your personalised care plan. Booking by the 26th week is required to participate fully in antenatal classes and build a meaningful relationship with your care team. Late bookings beyond 26 weeks are at the discretion of the attending provider.
Do I need to be on medical aid to join?
No. The programme is designed primarily for women paying cash (without medical aid). However, if you have medical aid, you can still join and submit invoices to your scheme for reimbursement based on your plan's rules. Contact us with your scheme details and we will confirm coverage.
Is the fee lower if I join late in pregnancy?
No. The Global Fee is consistent regardless of when you enrol. This ensures equitable access for all patients. The earlier you join, the more you benefit from the full scope of antenatal care included in the programme.
Can I join if I have a pre-existing condition like diabetes or HIV?
A pre-existing condition does not automatically exclude you. If your condition is well-controlled, you can still enrol. However:
  • Medications and specialist consultations for the pre-existing condition are not included in the Global Fee and will be billed separately
  • You may require more frequent visits and monitoring
  • Your eligibility and any fee adjustments are determined during your initial assessment
The programme is designed for low-risk pregnancies. If your pregnancy becomes high-risk, your care plan will be adjusted and you may be referred to a specialist, with any additional costs discussed in advance.
Pricing & Payment
How much does the programme cost?
Indicative pricing (costs may vary by region):
  • Natural Vaginal Delivery (NVD): from R30,000 — includes midwife-led care, 1-day hospital stay, and 3 postnatal visits
  • Caesarean Section: from R60,000 — includes obstetrician-led delivery, 2-3 day hospital stay, and 3 postnatal visits
  • Initial Assessment Fee: R4,600 (non-refundable, payable at first visit)
These are all-inclusive Global Fees — consultations, scans, tests, hospital delivery, and postnatal care. No hidden costs for uncomplicated pregnancies.
Use our online Cost Estimator for a personalised quote based on your specific needs.
Are payment plans available?
Yes. We offer flexible monthly payment plans:
  • Instalments are customised to your financial situation
  • The earlier you enrol, the lower your monthly payments
  • Full payment must be completed by 34 weeks gestation to ensure hospital arrangements are in place
  • Payment methods: EFT, credit card, debit card, or cash
We also have relationships with third-party credit providers who can assess your eligibility for financing.
What happens if I can't meet the payment deadline?
If payment is not received by 34 weeks, our policy is to refer you to the public healthcare sector. This ensures you have adequate time to establish care with an alternative provider. We strongly encourage you to communicate any financial difficulties as early as possible so we can work together on a solution.
What is NOT included in the price?
The Global Fee does not cover:
  • Epidurals for normal deliveries (available at additional cost)
  • NICU (neonatal intensive care) — this is why we require your baby to be on medical aid
  • Private room upgrades or lodger accommodation
  • Extended hospital stays beyond the standard package
  • Specialised tests: NIPT, nuchal translucency scan, Down's syndrome screening (optional, offered at additional cost)
  • Pre-existing condition management: medications and specialist visits for non-pregnancy conditions
  • Serious complications requiring prolonged admission (>24 hours)
  • Admissions before delivery for non-pregnancy-related problems
Do you offer a birth-only rate?
Yes. If you have received antenatal care elsewhere and only need delivery services, we offer a standalone birth-only package. Contact us for a personalised quote.
What is your refund policy?
  • The Initial Assessment Fee (R4,600) is non-refundable
  • If you withdraw before admission for delivery, you receive a refund for the excess amount already paid, as per the Refund Schedule
  • No refunds are issued after admission for labour
  • Refunds are processed within 10 business days
Medical Aid
Do you accept medical aid?
Dr Manyonga is a Discovery Health Global Fee Partner. For gynaecological services, we can bill certain medical aids directly. For the maternity programme, you pay the Global Fee and can submit invoices to your medical aid for reimbursement based on your scheme's rules. Contact us with your scheme details to confirm coverage before enrolling.
Why must my baby be on medical aid?
We require that you or your partner have medical aid that allows you to register your baby at birth (secured by 32 weeks gestation). This is because NICU services are not included in our Global Fee. If your newborn needs intensive care, medical aid coverage ensures these potentially significant costs are covered. This is a non-negotiable requirement of the programme.
Can I claim back from my medical aid?
Yes. After each service, you receive a detailed invoice which you can submit to your medical aid for reimbursement. The amount reimbursed depends on your specific scheme and plan rules.
Your Care Team
Who will look after me during my pregnancy?
You are cared for by an integrated multidisciplinary team:
  • Obstetrician & Gynaecologist — leads your clinical care, available 24 hours for delivery
  • Clinical Associate / Medical Officer — supports antenatal consultations and care coordination
  • Midwives — provide 1:1 support during labour and birth in a private birthing suite
  • Sonographer — performs all ultrasound scans
  • Doula — continuous emotional and physical support during labour
  • Paediatrician — available for newborn assessment
This team-based model ensures continuity of care, 24-hour obstetric coverage, and a collaborative approach to your wellbeing.
Will I see the same provider at every visit?
We strive to maintain consistency, but our team-based approach means you may see different members of your care team at different visits. This is by design — it means your care is never dependent on a single person, and there is always a provider who knows you available when needed, including for delivery.
What makes Network One different from other providers?
Three things set us apart:
  • One-stop, team-based care — antenatal, birth, and postnatal services under one roof with a multidisciplinary team, not a solo practitioner
  • Transparent, all-inclusive pricing — a single Global Fee with no hidden costs, plus flexible payment plans
  • Clinical governance — our protocols are developed to international standards (WHO, RCOG, SASOG, NDoH), with ongoing quality monitoring through our InSIST training programme and clinical dashboards
Birth & Hospital
Where will I give birth?
Deliveries take place at our partner private hospitals:
  • Johannesburg: Busamed Modderfontein Private Hospital, 2nd Floor, 4 Cransley Crescent, Long Lake, Modderfontein
  • Pretoria: Louis Pasteur Private Hospital, Ground Floor, 374 Frances Baard Street, Pretoria Central
What birth options are covered?
Both natural vaginal delivery (NVD) and caesarean section (C-section) are covered. Your birth plan is discussed with your obstetrician and midwifery team based on your clinical needs and preferences. We focus on supporting natural birth but perform caesarean sections when medically indicated.
Can I choose to have a caesarean?
Our programme focuses on natural birth for low-risk pregnancies. Caesarean sections are performed when clinically necessary. If you have a preference, discuss it with your obstetrician during your antenatal visits — all decisions are made collaboratively with your best interests in mind.
What if I need an emergency caesarean?
Emergency caesarean sections are managed by your care team, who are available 24 hours. The emergency C-section is covered, though an additional specialist fee may apply as outlined in your Medical Services Agreement.
Can I have an epidural?
Epidurals are not included in the standard NVD package but can be arranged at additional cost. We encourage alternative pain management methods first, but the option is available and will be discussed with you during your birth planning.
How long will I stay in hospital?
  • Natural vaginal delivery: 1 day (24 hours)
  • Caesarean section: 2-3 days
Extended stays are possible if clinically required, but are billed separately.
Do you offer home births?
No. All deliveries take place at our partner private hospitals where the full clinical team and emergency facilities are available.
Can my partner be present during the birth?
Yes. Your birth partner is welcome during labour and delivery. A doula is also part of the care team to provide additional emotional and physical support.
Your Pregnancy Journey
What happens at my first visit?
Your initial antenatal assessment includes:
  • Consultation with a midwife specialist — medical history, lifestyle, and concerns
  • Booking ultrasound scan — confirm pregnancy and estimate due date
  • Routine blood tests — HIV, syphilis, blood type, Rh factor, anaemia, hepatitis
  • Obstetrician or medical officer review — examination and personalised care plan
This visit costs R4,600 (non-refundable) and is payable on the day.
What scans will I have during pregnancy?
  • Booking scan (6-9 weeks): Confirms pregnancy and dates — included
  • First-trimester screening (12-14 weeks): Nuchal translucency and chromosomal screening — optional, additional cost
  • Anatomy scan (20-22 weeks): Detailed assessment of baby's development — included
  • Growth scans: As clinically indicated — included
The anatomy scan at 20-22 weeks is thorough but cannot detect all conditions. This is discussed during your consent process.
What are the antenatal classes like?
Group-based education sessions covering:
  • Childbirth preparation — breathing techniques, pain management options, what to expect
  • Breastfeeding — techniques, positioning, common challenges
  • Newborn care — bathing, feeding, immunisations, developmental milestones
  • What to pack for hospital
Classes typically begin around 24-28 weeks and are included in the programme fee. You are encouraged to bring your birth partner.
What if my pregnancy becomes high-risk?
If complications arise:
  • Your care team will reassess your care plan immediately
  • You may be referred to a specialist in high-risk pregnancies
  • Additional costs will be discussed with you in advance
  • If specialised care becomes unaffordable, we will stabilise your condition and facilitate a safe transfer to a state facility
Continuation in the programme depends on whether appropriate care can be provided within the programme's scope.
After the Birth
What postnatal care is included?
Three scheduled postnatal visits covering:
  • Physical recovery assessment for mother
  • Baby wellness check — weight, feeding, development
  • Breastfeeding support and troubleshooting
  • Contraception counselling
  • Screening for postnatal depression
  • Pap smear (cervical screening)
Do you provide breastfeeding support?
Yes. Our midwives provide breastfeeding guidance during your hospital stay and postnatal visits. We cover techniques, positioning, managing common challenges like engorgement or latching difficulties, and when to seek additional help.
What about my baby's care after birth?
A paediatrician is available for newborn assessment. However, ongoing neonatal care is not included in the programme fee. This is why we require your baby to be covered by medical aid. Immunisations and routine baby care should be arranged with your paediatrician or clinic after discharge.
Safety & Quality
How do you ensure quality and safety?
  • International standards: Clinical protocols aligned with WHO, RCOG, SASOG, and NDoH guidelines
  • InSIST programme: In-Service Skills Improvement and Situational Awareness Training keeps all team members current
  • Clinical governance: Multi-disciplinary meetings, supportive supervision, and ongoing audit
  • Quality dashboards: 21 clinical KPIs monitored in real-time across all sites
  • HPCSA registered: All healthcare professionals are fully licensed
What happens in an emergency outside office hours?
A practice midwife is on call 24/7 for guidance. In a true emergency, go to the nearest hospital emergency department and contact the practice as soon as possible. Do not self-admit to hospital without consulting the on-call midwife first — self-admissions without prior consultation may result in personal liability for costs.
How is my personal information protected?
We comply fully with POPIA (Protection of Personal Information Act):
  • Your consent is obtained for collection and sharing of personal information
  • Data is used solely for medical services, claims processing, and necessary communications
  • Encrypted electronic medical records with limited access controls
  • Regular audits and established data breach protocols
  • You have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your data
